Warsaw Uprising Website

Let me introduce myself: I am Witold Kiezun Jr., a Polish-American born and educated in Warsaw and living for over 20 years in San Diego, CA. Last year, after visiting my aging parents in Warsaw, I have realized that so many incredible WWII stories of people of their generation might not be preserved and thus will never be told. This inspired me into creating an English language website dedicated to the Warsaw Uprising of 1944 (www.warsawuprising.com).

Since the scope of this site is constantly growing, I am looking for volunteers to help me translate documents and memoirs (Polish--English), do research, digitize material, etc. Additionally, I always welcome historical, language, and technical critique of the website material.

In addition to the Warsaw Uprising subject, I am also working on a website about the WWII efforts to save Polish Jews during the Holocaust.

Club Outreach

Polish Heritage Club members participate in a variety of community service activities. The Club has provided humanitarian assistance donations to charitable organizations in Poland by donating clothing, money for meals to impoverished children, and educational materials to assist in the mastery of the English language.

Members were also active in the annual proclamation of May 3 as Trzeciego Maja Day in Wisconsin and the development of the Polish display at Old World Wisconsin near Eagle, Wisconsin. Members continue to maintain communication and contact with a variety of organizations with similar purposes.

As a Club, members regularly participate in season pledge drives for WHA-TV, Madison's public television station. Members have also assembled a directory of Polish resources and related information for distribution to the community.

Members organize a Madison Public Library exhibit each October to recognize Polish American Heritage Month. Members have presented seminars about Polish topics at schools, senior centers and community centers. The Club also participates in cultural folk festivals and other community events.
